Sometimes it can be a bit tricky tracking down a clans website or forums so we have compiled a list of current clans who play Base Assault and placed a link to their site here.
_____________
This was the opening statement of this page when it was created in May 2007:
" Most of our members have been playing Base Assault since the UO expansion pack was released in the summer of 2004. We know the maps inside out and so do our opponents. Unfortunately it has become more and more common recently for clans to adopt a 'Base Defend' rather than a Base Assault approach to the game regardless of the match being competitive or a friendly. Facing experienced opponents who just want to dig-in and play for a 0-0 draw makes for dullest, most mind numbing of games.
We at the [BBC] appeal to all clans to play the game in the spirit that it is meant and play to win!"
As we enter 2008 most of the ratings we applied to clans we played in the later part of 2007 have been elevated. There was a noticable change in the types of games we were playing in the second half of the year as many of our opponents adopted an attacking style. This has been great for the games and competitions that we took part in last year, EBAL in particular. We look forward to more of the same in 2008!
The clan directory that we have compiled includes a 5 point rating system to give you the reader a guide to which clans are merciless in their offensives and which may choose to set up a defence and do nothing else.
At the low end of the scale a shovel represents a 'Dig-in and do nothing but defend for an entire round' mentality. At the high end of the scale a tank represents an 'offensive plays intended to win every round' attitude.
The 5 point scale roughly signifies the following:
1 = Defend and make no attempt to attack. 2 = Light offensives to relieve the boredom for a couple of players. 3 = Attack one base then defend heavily. 4 = Mount offensives whilst defending a lead. 5 = Relentless Offensives to pound an opponent into submission.
Anyone can defend half a map. But as that statement suggests it is only half the game and half the story. Play to win. Attack to win. Play exciting games and be a Better Team!
Say NO to Base Defend. Say YES to Base Assault!
