 | [BBC] would be best described as an Online Social Club made up of casual gamers with a serious competitive streak.
We currently have around 22 members, 13 of whom could be considered as Match Active. Many of our members have been around since the clans birth in 2005 and of the members who have left and are still gaming, almost all are still regular visitors to our forum, servers or vent. We have built a good family here with friendships that extend beyond the games we play, and that's the way we like it.
The [BBC] Ventrilo and game servers are places our members can come knowing that they can leave RL outside and enjoy some fun time, even if its only for a few hours. |
Fun and games aside though, we have high expectations of all our members who want to be part of the competition squad and as a result we have developed one of the finest Base Assault teams around.
So what is it that we are looking for in a player? Well that's quite a big question, but here are the basic requirements:
[BBC
] Membership Criteria:
Minimum age: 30ish (We are a Mature bunch) Twenty something...
Availability: Play at least 5 hours a week
Forums: Be a regular visitor and contributor to our community
Requirements: Sense of humour / Ventrilo / Working headphones & mic / Xfire / Beer
Cash: One time payment of £15 at the time of joining. Any donations after that are completely voluntary.
Receiving an Invitation:
Membership is by
Invitation Only - (Unless we are openly recruiting as we are now) We are always on the lookout for good players who frequent our servers. If you are invited to join and you accept, you will serve a period of probation during which time we will get to know you on Vent. We already know how good you are, we will just want to make sure you fit in with the rest of us on a social level. If after the probation period either party is unhappy, we will part company with no ill will.
So to the subject of cash. The reality of online gaming is that it costs money - Servers, voice comms, website, domain, hookers etc
[BBC
] has never had a 'pay to play' policy and regular payments are not a requirement of
[BBC
] membership. We are a clan that is run on donations, from members and non-members, along with a splash of sponsorship and a smidgen of advertising.
What we do ask for however is for a single payment of £15 to cover the administration costs surrounding the acceptance and integration of a new member. There is a huge amount of talking to be done in relation to teaching, lecturing, belittling and general banter towards a new member. Although others may harp on about talk being cheap, here at
[BBC
], it costs £15.
So what happens upon the completion of your trial period?
Assuming both parties are happy, and immediately after the depositing of the aforementioned spondoolies into the clan coffers, you will become a full member of
[BBC
] Hurrah! etc.
We expect our members to behave with dignity and respect wherever they are in the gaming world. Whenever you are on league or clan websites, forums, comms channels, or servers you represent our clan. What you say and do affects and reflects on us all.
Use of foul or abusive language in our forums will likely see you banned. It would be a first, but there's always one! Distasteful avatars/sigs etc will also be removed, we run an old peoples home here not a Youth Club. Tasteful and stylish porn only please. (That translates to 'No pr0n'

)
It goes without saying that we cannot abide and will not tolerate cheats. They are the scourge of the online world that ruin fun and competitive gaming and the fight against it costs the industry, and therefore us as the consumer, money. We had to deal with an episode ourselves in the Summer of 2007 when BigWorm's teenage nephew was staying with him. You can read all about it in the "Banned: lil'Worm" menu link in the panel on the left. It wasn't a happy affair and it left an undeserved blemish on the clan's reputation. Our man was innocent and we weren't about to throw him to the wolves if it could have been avoided. Cheating by a
[BBC
] member has never happened and even the idea of it remains utterly unacceptable. Any one doing so can expect to be kicked out of the clan and publicly humiliated.
So to the actual...
